Kids scrapping on long winter days? Try scrapbooking

Looking back over all the years, wouldn’t it be nice to keep those memories alive in a scrapbook? Yes, I said slowly, wondering what prompted a seven year old to ask that, why don’t I look into it. And so it was that we met Jennifer at Scrapbookin’ Adventures in Parksville.

She started Grace and Ella on a simple project that she calls “The Paperbag Scrapbook.” You take a bunch of small paper bags, fold them all in half and staple at the fold. That forms a whole series of pockets that the kids decorate and then fill with photos or mementos or whatever you want. It’s a nice simple way of getting kids into the world of scrapbooking, so they can look back on “all those years” or their summer vacation or whatever.

Aside from classes, scrapbooking stores often have drop-in sessions or you can even set up your own classes or do birthday parties. And if you’re into scrapbooking and the kids aren’t, Scrapbookin’ Adventures has a kids play area where they can have fun while you shop. Forgot to ask if they have a “husband area.”
