One of our kids’ role models
Kids always need good role models and we’ve been fortunate to have some excellent baby-sitters over the years who’ve been just that. One of them is a young lady named Chanice and she’s always had a penchant for horses. A couple of years ago she got her own horse and it’s been a real lesson to our girls to watch her achieve that dream (taking part-time jobs, running bottle drives) and, most importantly, to watch Chanice caring for her animal. Every once and a while, Grace gets out there and helps feed the horse and muck out the stall, so she has a sense of the responsibility involved in having an animal.
Sadly, she sees no connection between caring for a horse and caring for chickens, so our plans to dissuade her from putting chickens in the backyard continue to be foiled.
